Why We Built It
Shell No. 1 · Kadence Composites shop
One was too big. One was too small. Not one was just right.
It started on the long way home — Montana to Oregon, then down the 101 and through the Avenue of the Giants to southern Utah. I was tired of hotels, but my Tacoma's 5-foot bed had no room for me, my wife, and our two Bernese Mountain Dogs.
So I went looking for the perfect camper. The soft tent toppers weren't built for what I needed — to just pull over and sleep for the night. The hard shells sat so tall on a mid-size truck I could picture one leaning through every corner. Too big, too small, never just right.
So I decided to build one. Something that closed like a pop-up tent — but better. Two composite shells that overlap: a top that slides up for full standing room, and drops low and garageable when it's time to drive.
Light. Secure. Built to last!
